As I am sure most of you do, the new year brings out thoughts of new goals. We here at Food Web Farms have recently increased the size of our farm to give us more options to grow in the coming years. The ways in which we want to expand can sometimes be debated among our family (the kids definitely have some unique ideas:).
One of the things we have learned in our first few years on the farm however is to start small, small changes, small growth, small additions. We will expand first on the areas we feel we do well such as humanely raising our pigs and turkeys (I would include our bees, but really they do all they work:). We will also expand our produce availability focusing on some of best products especially such as berries, pumpkins, and squash. We may also start small in trying new breeds and maybe even a few new animals entirely, but I already feel like I am getting ahead of myself. Plans are great, I am a die hard planner! But I have also lived enough to know the best thing you can is to be flexible:)
