We recently took an overnight trip to downtown Chicago and came home with even more appreciation for life on the farm! Don't get me wrong we had a wonderful trip, but it was a great reminder of why we choose to live in the country. For my daughter the biggest difference was the smell-she couldn't stand the smell of all the car exhaust for even one block. For my son it was the amount of people he found overwhelming. For my husband it was the traffic. (I was so grateful he drove!) For me, when I was there, it was the buildings that made me feel heavy and tight as they surrounded and towered over us. When we got home however, they first thing I noticed was the sound of the bugs and I realized how much that symphony has come to mean to me:) There is no place like home; we are grateful that for us home means few cars, few people (especially strangers), less traffic, fewer (shorter:) buildings, and especially a place where you are surrounded by nature's noise:)
