I love fall, but I am never ready for it! I love the colors, the sense of something we need to prepare for (back to school, winter, the upcoming holidays...), the harvesting of so many foods we have which grow for many months.
But it only takes that first dip into the now what feels like chilly 60's (much different from the oh so delightful 60's we feel in March:) to put a pause on all that enjoyment. That chill can feel more like a warning, or at least a reminder, that not everything we are preparing for may be pleasant. In nature (and farming) as in life there will be storms ahead. There may be times ahead when things look cold and bleak. There will be times ahead when hiding inside and waiting out the storm may be all we can do. But after the storm, there will be time to assess any changes that occurred and move forward, albeit sometimes more slowly than others. There is a a cycle to life/nature/farming of birth, growth, gather, rest, repeat. To me fall helps to reminder me of that and appreciate that more than any other season.
